Preservation of Valuable Information About Weaving and its History

How many of the patterns on this site have you seen somewhere else? Many of our patterns are only available here. The original works from which we produced many of our drafts are scarce and could easily become lost forever. Most of the originals have long been out of print or were never published. For some, there are fewer than 10 copies known to exist, and in a few cases there is only one known surviving copy! The same is true of the weaving documents found on the digital archive CDs that we offer. Much of this was difficult for us to acquire and you have a unique opportunity to have it now, inexpensively, quickly, and easily. We hope this will always be true, but it may not! Purchases of our CDs help preserve all of this for future generations of weavers by creating additional distributed copies.

Handweaving.net is truly unique!  Just think of all we provide and how easy it is to get. Do you know of any other source for so many high quality historic drafts and weaving documents, and for free? Many of our drafts are for patterns that are not available anywhere else. We need your help to be able to continue providing this.  Our website is created and maintained by individuals without the support of any organization and there are ongoing costs associated with running it. We have no advertising to keep the site clean and focused. There are no fees for using any of the site, to make sure that everyone throughout the world will have access to our material. If you purchase just one disc each year from our Weaving Store or could make a small annual donation we will be able to continue running and enhancing this website and adding new material.
